This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and is now in wonderful writing condition.I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand-polished the Gold Filled Arrow Clip, Chevron (///\\\) Cap Banding, Blind Cap Tassie, and 14K Parker NIB. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and protect the celluloid of the fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is the scarce Slender Maxima that measures 5 3/8" capped and 6 1/8" posted.This fountain pen cap and barrel are in superb condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The Golden Pearl celluloid color is gorgeous and displays very vibrantly. The clip on the cap displays no wear. The cap banding displays no wear. The bottom tassie is clean as well. The top jewel is striped and the bottom jewel is black. The barrel clarity is very good with mild ambering. The barrel is crisply stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC with the MADE IN U.S.A. with a date code 7 (for 1937) in the 3rd Quarter". The cap and barrel are free of any or monograms.This Parker Slender Maxima Vacumatic retains the correct "Speedline" filling unit that was produced for 2nd Generation Vacumatic. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works, typically in my tests with water, with about 12-15 presses to fill full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly.This Parker Vacumatic comes with a 14K gold date matching (1937) Parker 9 feather arrow nib with a fine point that measures .57mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a Fine to Medium line. In the writing sample provided, the stroke/line ranges from .53mm to .59mm when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Montblanc Blue Ink.This Parker Slender Maxima is the real deal top to bottom. It displays the wide cap band of the Maxima on a standard diameter pen and features the correct 9 feather per side arrow nib The pen has striped jewel and a section that matches the rest of the pen. Slender Maximas are more scarce than the larger Senior Maxima and probably show up once for every 50-70 Senior Maximas. eBay For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1927 Waterman #56 Black Smooth Hard Rubber Fountain Pen with 14K New York Ideal Nib. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and now is in writing condition.I have ultrasonically cleaned the feed and section. I hand-cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap with mineral oil. Cleaned and polished the outside of the cap and barrel with Mineral Oil. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new sac. Hand polished the 18K Gold Filled Clip Cap Clip, Lever Box Assembly along with the Waterman 14K #6 NIB. The hard rubber displays a great black hard rubber color with only very minor and light oxidation on the cap and barrel. The black hard rubber cap and barrel are smooth (no chasing).The barrel has an imprint at the center that reads, "WATERMAN'S IDEAL GLOBE LOGO REG. US PAT. OFF. FOUNTAIN PEN". The butt end of the fountain pen has a very crisp 56 imprint. The cap is a screw-on type cap always securing tightly with an 18K Gold Plated IDEAL CLIP-CAP Clip - clip displays no wear. The 18K Gold Filled Cap Banding has only very slight wear along the top edge of the banding. The barrel has the 18K Gold Filled Lever and Lever Box Assembly in excellent condition with no wear. There are no monograms or to either the cap or the barrel. There are no cracks, nicks, or repairs to the hard rubber. This Waterman #56 measures 5 5/8" in length capped and 7 1/8" posted.This Waterman Fountain Pen comes with a 14K Waterman Ideal New York 14K Nib. The NIB writes smoothly and is flexible with very good responsiveness. The actual tip of the Waterman 14K NIB has a medium point that measures .79mm with digital calipers. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with a fine line measuring .57mm and flexes up to a double broad stroke of 1.37mm with medium to firm pressure. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.The lever and box assembly have been cleaned and oiled. I have tested the lever filling systems with water as it was originally intended to.I would say this Waterman 56 is in Very Fine to Excellent condition.
